Anyway, I love Stampin' Up!'s rosette die and and I wanted to show you how easy it is to use it to make something like this:

While it appears that all our ink pads are retiring, I wanted to reassure you that Stampin' Up! will continue to sell the same high-quality, innovative ink pads that you know and love. It's just that they are getting an improvement with the new catalog: they will be firmer and thus deliver better results, and also (I think I like this part the best), there will be labels that you can stick on the front with the name of the color. And just in case you want to brush up on your language skills, you can select English, French, Spanish, or German! In addition, 5 of the inks will be reformulated: Basic Black (hopefully this will take care of the "purple" ink problem), Basic Gray, Marina Mist, Perfect Plum, and Tempting Turquoise.
Another big change is that from June 1st on, Stampin' Up! will only carry Craft ink (pigment ink) in Basic Black and Whisper White. I'm not excited about this change, but Stampin' Up! is constantly evaluating products, product sales, and inventory needs and they know best.
There will be some other changes, as well, but we will just have to wait and see what new and wonderful products Stampin' Up! has in store for us! I will be mailing up the new catalogs mid-May, so if you want one, leave your name below in the Comments section or email me!

At the scrapbooking class Sunday, Sharon shared a great story with us. She was camping, as she often does with her husband. She had taken the supplies to work on 4 different projects, but realized that she had forgotten her acrylic blocks! What to do? What to do? She was still pondering the problem when they headed out the flea market and then she had it! It didn't take her long to find the perfect replacement block: a heart-shaped glass dish that is flat on the bottom and the perfect size!
She also forgot her Big Shot, but that is a different story!

Feeling the green? How about with these projects?
For the candy treat, I downloaded the Go Green digital stamp, #124557, made it green, and then printed a sheet of them on Whisper White card stock, #100730. I cut out the image with the Labels Collection Framelits, #125598 (It is so easy to see where to cut with these dies!), and layered it onto a folded Top Note shape, #113463 cut from Garden Green card stock, #102584. A small (3x5) cello, #103104 with some green m&ms's and a cute little gift is done! I made these for my Stamp Club members this month. By the way, the m&ms came from a bag of Christmas ones - after the holidays, I sorted out the red ones to use for Valentine's Day and the green ones to use for St. Patrick's Day - clever, huh?
For the pin, I stamped the shamrock from the Got Treats stamp set, #119114, #10627 in Garden Green and the words, "GOT GREEN?" with Basic Black. (It was really easy because when I mounted my stamp set, I cut the words out and mounted them on the sides of the blocks.) I punched the image out with the Extra-Large Oval punch, #119859 and layered it on a Garden Green oval cut from the Ovals die, #114525. There is just the smallest edge of green showing (click on the photo to zoom in), making a perfect frame. I added a Rhinestone, #119246 and put a craft-store pin back on the back. I plan on passing these out at my Stamp Class today. I also took some to Red Lobster on Thursday where I met some of my besties for lunch. I even gave one to our cute waiter, Art. (love his name, don't you?)

So, what does it take to mail a stamped card? Especially if the card isn't totally flat (because you know how much we love our embellishments!) And what size is legal? There are so many questions about postage, I thought I would share some answers with you today.
First, how much? A first class letter costs $.45 to mail (or a Forever stamp). That price is for an envelope that is no heavier than 1 ounce, is between 3-1/2" x 6-1/8" high, is between 5" and 11-1/2" long, is less than 1/4" thick, and has uniform thickness. Oh, and the envelope has to be "machinable", meaning the envelope can go through the sorting machines. Clear cellophane envelopes are not considered "machinable". A second ounce will cost you $.20 more. I finally found a use for that Weight Watcher scale; dig yours out and start weighing your cards! Add another $.20 for non-machinable, rigid, square cards, and "lumpy" envelopes.
By the way, those "lumpy" envelopes still need to be no thicker than 1/4". If they are between 1/4" and 3/4", they are considered "large" envelopes and the postage is more. Large envelopes are 6-1/8" to 12" high, 11-1/2" to 15" long, and no more than 3/4" thick. Large envelopes that are rigid, lumpy, etc, will have to be mailed as packages. Which of course, costs more. Large envelopes cost $.90 for the first ounce and $.20 for each additional ounce.

This is what I do:
I keep track of my postage (oh, yes, I buy my postage online at that same Post Office website) in a book using 6 sheets of Designer Paper and my Rubicoil machine. Each pocket holds different demoninations. Here are a couple of the pages:
If this is too much to keep track of, you can do what some of my friends do: Use 1 stamp for a flat envelope or 2 stamps for a lumpy one. Who knows? It might work!
In the Occasions Mini Catalog, on page 42, there is a Simply Sent kit that I admit I skipped over initially, but the more I looked at it, the more intrigued I became. I purchased 2 kits to use at my March stamp club this month. I let each club member make her own creation using the kit plus Basic Pearls and Basic Rhinestones. I think they did a great job! I think this kit would make a super gift and it would be a fun project to work on with a friend, sister, or Mom! You can get your kit now at my Stampin' Up! store.
Don't forget to set your clocks forward one hour tonight. I'm not a fan of changing our clocks twice a year. The practice was started years ago when the hours of sunlight mattered more, but I don't get why we still do it.
